Registration & Financial Assistance Available - Scouting is interested in all Youth, and funding should not be a consideration. If you click -HERE- you will be taken to the COAC (Central Ontario Administration Cetnre) page which contains full registration details, as well as available funding. For funding assistance, scroll down to 'Scouts Canada Foundation and Council Subsidies'. Of interest to Wellington Area, are the sections labelled 'No One Left Behind' (covers National portion of fee) and 'Moledina Fund' (covers 50% of CEC portion of fee). Typically you would apply for NOLB first, Moledina second. Complete registration info, including Group Registrar packages are on this same page.
Police Record Checks - You may apply at your local Police Force as has always been done. However, after negotiation CEC has an online 48 hour version you may use. Remember, if you don't have a PRC you are NOT in Scouting even if it's been expired for 1 day. If you click -HERE- you will be taken to the COAC page which contains PRC links, among other important items. You'll find MyBackCheck.com as well as Wellington/Guelph info. If you're going to your local police, remember, within the city limits it's Guelph Police Services, outside of Guelph it's the OPP (stations in Fergus & Rockwood). Wait times for the local force range from 2-8 weeks. You must ensure you do your application at least 2 months ahead of the actual expiry to ensure it happens on time. We highly recommend everyone use MyBackCheck.com which can be back in as little as 1 hour!
